No Greater Sorrow

Several weeks ago I received an email from Carrie at 20-Something Homemaker.  She told me how burdened she was for me and how Evie's story had touched her heart.  And she asked me if she could send me something.  She said it was her "God-idea" - a special idea the Lord had placed on her heart to hopefully be a blessing to mothers who have lost babies.  A couple of weeks later I received a wonderful little gift and the sweetest note in the mail.
This was my gift - a special necklace that is part of Carrie's No Greater Sorrow Shop, a shop dedicated to designing necklaces to commemorate little lives in Heaven.  And not only are these items special treasures, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Missing Grace, an online support resource for families affected by pregnancy and infant loss.  And one special necklace, Maddox, will have 100% of the proceeds given to his memorial fund.

The Lord has really burdened Carrie's heart to reach out to babyloss mamas in a special way.  She has a true desire to be a resource and a help in any way she can.  I personally have been blessed to know there is someone out there who has not lost a baby who is willing to enter into that grief and support the loss community in any way she can.

Thank you so much Carrie for your wonderful heart.  May the Lord bless you in all that you do <3.

  1. Carrie's thoughtfulness warms my heart.

My son Maddox was stillborn on December 13, 2011, when I was 39 weeks pregnant (obviously not the same Maddox the necklace is named after). Like Carrie, my great friend Meghan, who has never experienced pregnancy/baby loss, has been such a blessing to me. I have been overwhelmed by her support and her determination to carry this burden with me.

I hope you don't mind me sharing that she has also created a jewelry line (the similarities between her and Carrie are crazy!) for her Etsy shop, and the 100% of her proceeds go to First Candle, an organization committed to stillbirth, SIDS and SUID research and awareness. The line is called Owls + Oaks by Swallow's Heart. (She is currently sold out of O+O pieces.)

It does so much for my heart to know that there are women out there who can feel our loss as their own and come along side us as we walk the journey of the loss of a child. Thank you for sharing. <3

    1. I read the story behind No Greater Sorrow, and it looks to me like Carrie did experience pregnancy loss. Am I misreading? I definitely do not want to discount her loss, so I apologize if I have made a mistake!

    2. Amanda, thank you for your kind words! I was told there was a chance the pregnancy was lost, then didn't find out for four weeks that she was in fact growing. So my story ended quite happily. But it was the taste of loss that has never left me.

It is beautiful what your friend is doing! I'll be sure to check out her stuff!

    3. I'm so sorry for your loss, Amanda, but so thankful you have such support in your friend. What a wonderful thing she is doing. <3

  2. What a beautiful gift Carrie has! That's such a lovely idea, and obviously God is using her in big ways.
Also I'm so glad you got to be blessed, friend.
    You are so deserving!

    1. I think it's so wonderful and the gift was a blessing. <3
