Well I don't know about you but I have thoroughly enjoyed this Showing Love series. Thank you so much to all the women who participated and shared their experiences and wisdom here with all of us. May we continue to be challenged to be more like the best friend of all, Christ.
Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends. John 15:13
I just wanted to share a closing thought about friendship and love and giving one's life for one's friends. It would likely be very rare that we would encounter a situation where we would actually die for a friend. Not impossible, but not terribly likely. But we can still lay down our lives for our friends by laying down our personal preferences/comforts/resources for our friends.
We lay down our lives for our friends when we:
Give a ride
Write a note
Bring a meal
Pay for their lunch out
Look over an offense
Of course the list goes on but you get my point. Christ laid down His life in the most powerful way and we imitate His perfect example when we set aside our own desires to meet the needs of a friend.
Be kindly affectionate one to another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another. Romans 12:10.
I also wanted to thank everyone who entered the giveaway. I wanted so badly to respond to everyone's comments on how they have showed love or had been shown love, but I was really afraid that by doing so I would enter my own giveaway and skew the results haha! But please know that I read them all and each one brought a smile to my face.
Ok, so without further ado, the winner is ... Kate Washburn!
Hooray!! I'll get the cards to you as soon as possible.
Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all have a restful weekend.
