what a privilege to carry

I recently read this guest post from the blog, Beauty in Weakness.  One part of the post really stood out to me:

Isn’t it honoring and humbling that the God of the universe desires to use our wombs to create his heritage and posterity? From the human womb emerges warriors of truth and light who will build His kingdom. From the womb come living-soul masterpieces which are designed and created in God’s image.

I recently realized that I had started to believe a lie from the enemy.  A lie that I was somehow less; less of a mommy and less of a pregnant woman because my daughter is not expected to live very long.  I had started to believe the lie that an individual's worth is found only in this world.

After reading the aforementioned post I also remembered a comment my father-in-law left on my blog a few months ago.

God is life itself, "I am the...life." And the entire premise of scripture is that life is somehow better than non-life, that a living bird is better than a lifeless arrow and a human life is better than a flame of fire. Life, all by itself, even if it is short-lived, is a miracle and a treasure. And when the brief time any of us have on earth is then folded into eternal life in heaven's joy...Wow!

To carry and to give life is an awesome prospect, and when the child is assured of heaven, either because of conversion or because of departure from this world in innocence, the giving of life becomes infinitely wonderful.

The Lord still views my womb as sacred despite the diagnosis the doctors have given Evie.  He is still using me to create and give life to an eternal soul.  God is not bothered by the fact that Evie's heart will beat here for only a short while; He has predetermined her time on this earth but more importantly, He has a forever place for her in Heaven.  Additionally, God is using Evie's life to bring people to Him.  He is using her little life to bring eternal life to many.  She is already a "warrior of truth and light who is building His kingdom".  That is quite amazing to me.

I am so thankful to the Lord for leading me to these truths this week.  I desperately needed them.

And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for {her}, when as yet there were none of them.  How precious also are Your thoughts to {her}, O God!  How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand
