Evie's Funeral and Memorial

Evie's funeral was held Saturday morning at 9:00 am.  We were surrounded by loved ones.  The weather was chilly and breezy, but somehow the wind reminded me that God was in the midst of us.

Her memorial was held at 10:30 at Norfolk Botanical Garden.  It was an absolutely gorgeous venue provided for us by a very generous friend.  Evie was honored fondly with loving words and touching songs.  Many friends poured their best efforts into the food and fun dessert table.  And most importantly the hope we have in our Savior was presented so clearly.

It was a sad day but there was also much rejoicing.  My dear friend Chani was there once again to capture the moments.  I won't say much more - I think the pictures speak for themselves and tell the beautiful story of Evie's special day.

Here are links to the special music:

Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus - performed by friend Anna and Evie's Auntie Lauren
Mighty is the Power of the Cross - performed by friend Ben and Evie's Daddy
You Are Good - Auntie Lauren, Daddy
It Is Well With My Soul - Daddy
Glory - Ben and Auntie Lauren

And here is the memorial video that Evie's daddy put together for her:

And here is the link for the clip of the words I shared at Evie's memorial.

I can't say thank you enough to the people who made Saturday possible.  It was so amazing to see my little girl honored with such love.  It is truly a treasure for my hurting heart to remember.

  1. These thoughts came to me earlier and wanted to share with you.

    "Mommy Dear,
From the very beginning, your heartbeat synced with mine, playing your motherly love song. Your breathing created an seashore hum that floated me ever so gently. The songs that you sang to me gave me a loving introduction to your sweet voice. I knew you loved me, I could feel it. I heard your love in conversations you had with Daddy. I knew how badly you wanted me to spend some time with you because I heard your prayers to our Father God. I was glad when I got to snuggle with my big brother and you and Daddy before it was time to go. And, oh Mommy, you know that little peak you saw? I know it made you smile, but Mommy, that was also for me. I wanted to make sure I knew your face when you come to be with me in Heaven. I love you Mommy. See you soon--with both eyes. Love, Evie Caris"
