wedding cake

I did it!  I successfully made my friend's wedding cake.  The general consensus: it looked amazing and tasted great.  Who could ask for anything more?  Here are some photos for your viewing pleasure:

This was the photo from which the bride gathered inspiration.
And here was the whole thing put together!

I also made gluten-free and sugar-free cupcakes, per the bride's request. Very cute, especially with the little flag labels.
Everyone thought the cake was really delicious, so I thought it might be a good idea to post the recipe link.  It was called Duncan Hines delicate white chocolate cake.  I just took the cake recipe and ignored the parts about cherries and whipped cream.

So that was the actual cake recipe.  Between each layer was a cream cheese and raspberry preserve filling, all covered in buttercream (butter only, no shortening thank you!), and homemade fondant.  It was really yummy and moist.

I have only made one other wedding cake, which was for my brother-in-law and sister-in-law.  It was also lovely and tasty.

Forgot it was four tiers.  Go me!  ;)
So that's that.  Thanks for thinking of me and praying for me.  It's always a big project, but really fun to contribute to a loved one's special day.

  1. they are both gorgeous cakes!! I remember when you made the one for your in laws -- all those tiny flowers! haha So pretty though! I love the big flowers for Lauren's though - really elegant! You're super talented! :)

  2. IT WAS AMAZING!!! The pictures do not do it justice, it was truly a work of art. Stunning. It also, by consensus, was the best cake I've (we've) ever tasted. We polled it:-) Job very well done!!

  3. Breath-taking! Such a good gift to Lauren & Dale!

  4. Also - Jed & Lauren's was one of my faves, although I did not taste it, I LOVE the look of it! If I were to do my wedding cake over again, it would be something like that one, I think:-)

  5. I am DEFINITELY keeping your cakes in mind when my day comes!
