family fridays

I have some great pictures to share this week.  Here they are:

I made this cake for a friend's baby shower this past week.  I watched this tutorial on youtube to figure out how to make the pretty buttercream ribbons.  It was surprisingly simple and yet so elegant.  And in case you're wondering, the flavor was strawberry and vanilla swirl with cream cheese icing.  Can you guess what gender baby my friend is having!?

This, by far, has to be the best pic on this blog ever, ever.  On Thursday afternoon Micah was tucked in his snuggly bed for his afternoon nap.  He usually talks to himself for a while and then settles into dreamland.  I don't usually think much of his babble, but that particular afternoon I heard him repeating the names of his grandparents and aunt.  I was curious as to what he was doing and so I queued up the video cam in his room.  What I saw there completely melted my heart.

My tiny man was praying!  All by himself in his crib he was praying to the Lord about the family members he loves so dearly.  What a precious moment to capture on camera!

I know that's hard to top, but here are some really adorable pictures too.

He did this himself and kept saying "dis, dis!" until I turned around to acknowledge his cuteness . He is seriously such a ham!

Wearing some underwear.  Potty training attempts made two days this week. I feel like I need to do more research before pursuing further.  But how cute is that bottom?  Or lack thereof haha!

My little runner!  Daddy has been going running after clinicals and Micah now insists on putting on his sneakers and running around the house.
My boys playin baseball.  And yes, Micah insists on everyone wearing hats to play

We found an "eam" (worm) and played with it for a while and then put it in a jar. Micah was mesmerized for quite some time.

He wanted the camera.  Do you notice Evie in the picture too?
Josh is doing really well.  He finished his last week at a hospital here in Norfolk and will start clinicals in a new location starting Tuesday.  He is really loving having a regular clinical schedule.

If you think of it, please pray for me as I have some really hard things to deal with in the next several weeks.  I will probably share more details at a later time, but now is about the time when I have to start thinking of funerals, memorial services, etc. for my baby girl.  And I have a feeling actually doing those things will be even unpleasant-er than they sound.

Thanks for checking in on us.  Hope you have a great weekend.

ps - I am currently working on some blog updates, mostly trying to organize it a little better and make it prettier.  If it looks really strange from time to time over the next week or so, you know why!  just tinkering ...

  1. The picture of Micah praying is just priceless. Can't look at it without tearing up! I have a mental image of everything in Heaven pausing for this little one's prayer.

  2. Wow (on the prayer picture), smiles (on the other pictures), and sigh (on the last part).
