Kitchen Table

My house is pretty small, like under 800 square feet small.  As a result, my kitchen table doubles, triples, and even quadruples as a place to eat meals, a desk area, extra counter space, and unfortunately a catch-all. The other day as I was clearing the table off for dinner, I thought it was kind fo funny that the items straggled across that table were actually kind of a summary of my day.  I thought it might be interesting to photograph the table and its many faces on different days in order to remember what we did that day.  Here is a photo of my lovely chocolate-brown kitchen table taken yesterday at 3:34 pm:

And this is what each item represents to me (clockwise): stainless steel napkin holder - I really have been meaning ro refill it for a couple of days now haha; tumbler - I don't go anywhere without that thing; laptop - I actually had recently finished starting this blog; kitchen towel with empty lunch dishes - we had just come back from the beach and I was really hungry and very grateful for the leftovers I had from dinner the previous night.  california blend veggies, mashed potatoes, and a new chicken recipe where I tried to substitute honey with corn syrup and it didn't work out so well;  bib - left there from Micah's lunch of homemade pureed peas; container of almonds - left there from my breakfast; container of cheese slices  - I had brought some with me to the beach, but it got sort of melty and slimy.  gross.; water bottle - I had brought that to the beach and Micah was sharing it with me through a straw.  he actually really likes water and its so cute to watch him guzzle it down; book (at home in mitford) - lent to me by my mother-in-law.  it is a really light-hearted read and I am enjoying it; pen/paper - Micah is currently changing his nap schedule, so I was writing down what he did to see if any patterns emerged; turquoise ring - I think Micah was holding it before he ate his lunch and I had to take it away from him or it would have been covered with peas; iphone - not much to say there except that I didn't think I would like it that much but I actually do.  And my husband Josh bought one for each of us to help us stay in contact better once he goes back to school and has a crazy schedule of a 60+ hour week of classes/clinicals.

So that was my day in a nutshell.  Or I guess I can say, that was my day in a tabletop!
